Bkort Photography
Bragi Kort, also known by the professional name of Bkort Photography, is a photographer and photo guide based in Iceland. His body of work focuses on ethereal landscapes and fine art nudes set against otherworldly scenic views.
Kort grew up in Iceland and began creating art during his teenage years, at fourteen years old. In 1977, he pursued photography as a profession. He currently devotes his time to photographic related endeavors full-time. Furthermore, he hosts various photography workshops, mostly focusing on fine art nude photography. In addition, he is also the co-owner of Arctic Shots, a tourist company certified by the Icelandic Tourist Board offering photo tours in Iceland.
Bkort Photography focuses on creating images that capture the natural beauty of Iceland and the female form. The photographs produced juxtapose nudes against glacial scenes or abundant vegetation. Bragi Kort believes that nature and the human body are a perfect match. And, he strives to highlight the harmony between the two in his images. Often, the models he works with take on fairy and nymph-like qualities, furthering the pure and raw characteristic in his compositions. To further etherealize his images by imbuing them with serenity, he uses Lightroom and Photoshop. Some of the tools Kort uses frequently include a Canon 5DM III/IV, 16-35 f2,8 III, 24-70 f2,8 II, 100-400 II, 70-200 f4IS, 135 f2.0.
Nature heavily inspires his work. Throughout the years, Bragi Kort moved away from indoor studio shoots and now prefers to work outdoors. His location around Icelandic scenery, renowned by its ice and fire landscapes, allows him to take inspiration from his surroundings. Most of his images have the nude female body set against a background of waterfalls, basalt cliffs, sandy beaches, fields of flowers, glaciers, fjords, and other arctic settings found all over Iceland. In addition, he also finds inspiration from the northern lights (aurora borealis).
Through his work, under the name of Bkort Photography, he visited picturesque views all over Iceland and the surrounding areas. Bragi Kort likes to work with models that pose creatively and fluidly such as dancers. He avoids themes that degrade natural beauty and hypersexualize the female form. Furthermore, he works with models from all over the world in diverse creative projects. His favorite collaboration was a photo shoot done in the Westfjords of Iceland in 2018 with models Ella Rose and Lucy Magdalena. A dream project without limitations he would like to achieve consists of traveling to striking landscapes around the world with a truckload full of voluminous dresses for four or five models.
